Chef Helen McClain began her primary professional culinary training with Master Chef José Gutierrez; including all of the stations of a traditional French kitchen. Chef Gutierrez is an award-winning chef and is currently owner and Executive Chef of River Oaks Restaurant (Memphis, TN). Previously, he was owner and Executive Chef of Encore Restaurant (Memphis, TN) and former Executive Chef of Chez Philippe at The Peabody Hotel (Memphis, TN).
After four years training with Chef Gutierrez, Helen worked at Napa Cafe (Memphis, TN). Then she served as a Pastry Chef at Ronnie Grisanti's (Memphis, TN). She also worked as Executive Chef at Meadowbrook Country Club (West Memphis, AR).
Helen's first love has always been cooking, and she has been cooking for her family since she was a child. After she gained her professional cooking experience, Helen started her own catering business based in Marianna, AR. In 2005, Fabulous Food began serving Memphis and the greater Mid-South area.
Helen McClain is a native of Marianna, AR. She graduated from The Hutchison School in Memphis, TN and went on to earn her BA in Math & Computer Science from Converse College in Spartanburg, SC.
